Blush Lacquer’s November Polish Pickup: Bane of my Existence

Holy polish, batman! I’ve got the lovely contribution from Blush Lacquers to share!

The Polish Pickup is a Facebook group that features many, many makers each month and the themes are voted on by members! It’s a massive collaboration similar to box collabs, except you get to pick the exact polishes you want! No commitment, yay! I’ll have links at the end of the post if you are not in the group.

Blush chose the Batman fandom for November’s theme, specifically Bane. I always thought he was one of the cooler villains from the Gotham centralized universe. ‘Bane of my Existence’ is insanely spot on for the inspiration, which is awesome because I feel like Bane would be a hard one to get. However, Victoria the wizard nailed it!

Official description: A muted multichrome that sometimes appears to shift olive-gold-caramel brown and other times appears as a brighter green-gold-red brown depending on lighting. There is also sparkling holo flakes added (not glitter).

Swatch shows three very thin coats plus gloss topcoat. I’d say you can get away with two coats, depending on your application style. If you do one thin, then one medium coat you’ll be good to go. If thin coats are your style, then three it is. The formula is a medium viscosity that doesn’t run or bald itself. So, no worrying about over working.

This is a very unique shade, the main color is a muted olive, but in the center you’ll see a red glow with gold along the sides. On tilt, in some shaded lighting you’ll even see a muted, almost blue shift. Bright lights will pick up a brilliant green/gold glow. Working with Victoria’s polishes over the last year, I must admit that I positively adore the flakies she uses in polishes like this. They’re like those galaxy flakes that demand your attention. I did not have any issues with them poking up, they laid down well before topcoating. There is a tiny bit of texture before topcoat, but one coat will smooth everything out to a nice gloss finish. You’ll need just a bit more effort to remove, but it is do able, nothing like a micro glitter!
