I’ve been a busy little bee this week! I’ll be sharing Night Owl Lacquer’s newest collection, based of the love of rain: the Pluviophile collection! This is a nine piece set consisting of six cremes, and three toppers. At the end of the post I’ll also show you guys the creme of the month for September! (not part of the pluviophile set, but saving you guys some clicks 😉 )
In case you’re wondering (per google): Pluviophile – (n) a lover of rain; someone who finds joy and peace of mind during rainy days
As a blanket statement, I’m using Night Owl Lacquer’s Patience Not Required topcoat, in all photos in this post. It complimented the formula of the cremes very well and further aided in the awesome self leveling these all had. Its got a medium feel, and stays put. After using it for a few weeks now, I can report no glooping so far!
Let It Rain – a light grey creme
Swatches show two easy coats with topcoat. This is a lovely light grey, for a lighter color it self leveled nicely and the second coat was just to even everything out. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I can’t rave about the formula enough on all of these. They are SO satisfying to apply!
Dancing In The Rain – a greyed violet creme
Swatches show two coats with topcoat. This is a perfect medium, dusky violet. It’s vibrant, but muted just enough to continue the mellow vibes of the collection. Easy formula, buttery medium feel that built up perfectly.
Watching The Rain – a greyed blue creme
Swatches show two coats with topcoat, I think on just about all of these if you have short nails and a medium preference to your coats; it’ll be a one coater for you. Personally, I say two normal coats for that salon finish with a thicker appearance (my FAV).
Find Peace In The Rain – a greyed teal creme
Love this color. LOVE. I accidentally used it for two of the toppers not realizing it until I went to edit. Oops haha. I adore the vibe this palette gives and this teal is perfection to me. Doesn’t hurt that it has a perfect formula too. Shown below is two coats with topcoat.
Rhythm of The Rain – a greyed wine creme
Probably my first favorite in the set? I love this shade. Swatches show two coats with topcoat. I felt like this one was just a little thinner than the rest for opacity but I still felt like it was fine by the second coat. Just go a little heavier in application on this one and you’ll be fine.
The Smell of Rain – a greyed brown creme
Swatches show two coats with topcoat. I’d describe this as a dark taupe neutral to me. Same easy formula, self leveling and creamy application. Reminds me of the pavement after a thunderstorm.
Stormy Skies – a topper with charcoal flakies, white flakies and silver/white sparks
This is the first topper in the collection. Swatches show one coat over Let it Rain. It gives a reflective sparkle with the silver flakes and I feel like it just barely darkened the base. Barely. There’s a dense scattered holo sparkle that compliments the flakies and sparks. I think it’ll look lovely over any shade, really.
Flash of Lightning – a topper with silver holo micro shreds & silver holo lightning bolts
Swatches show one coat over Find Peace in the Rain. The lightening bolts are larger, so I’d recommend storing the bottle upside down right before use so you can easily get them out; otherwise a little fishing is required. I’d like to note that the lighting bolts laid down for me, however they do give just a touch of texture after topcoat on the edges so I’d recommend two thin coats of topcoat to prevent that. the holo shreds are gorgeous and give a strong sparkle.
Light Through The Clouds – a topper full of purple/blue iridescent shreds in various sizes
Swatches show one coat over Find Peace in the Rain. In the swatch video I did a second coat to make sure you guys can see it on camera. This is a beautiful topper that has a glowing blue and purple effect, just like lighting during a thunderstorm. Flakes laid down flat, and I had no texture after topcoat.
That’s it for the Pluviophile collection, next we have the creme of the month: Autumn is Calling! This is a searing chili pepper red! Swatches show two easy peasy coats with Patience not Required topcoat. My camera decided to freak out on this one, so it’s looking more orange toned that what I’m seeing in person. I think the swatch video is a little better but still scorching. It’s red, like… true vibrant red not orange red. I think the macro is color accurate (at least on my monitor).
The creme of the month and Pluviophile collection are available NOW! If you’d like to see the ultra satisfying application of these pretties, I highly recommend taking a peek at my swatch video.
Thank you so much for stopping by! ❤
