Emily de Molly: February 2019 Releases

prsample
Hello nail geeks! I’ve been a busy bee on posting this week! Productive… what is that even?? We have fresh new batches from Emily de Molly to spy and oogle at, and I must say this is my new favorite release so far. Which is ironic, because February 2018 was my most loved one that really spoke to me but this set is seriously shoving those off my pedestal to be new favorites. But enough yammering, let’s get to some swatches!
***
A Better Tomorrow – A steel blue holographic with silver holographic micro glitters and pink to green shifting multichrome shimmer.
$11.00 USD / $13.00 AUD
Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula has a rich, ultra smooth feel during application that is very true to the brands holo finishes in opacity. This one is a damn near one coater. The holo is very strong, and the micro glitters give an extra oomph to the overall bling going on here. The shimmer is strong and shifts from a purpley-copper to a lovely golden green tone. Those of you going crazy over the foils… don’t throw tomatoes at me but this is my number one pick of the set *ducks*.

Grace And Glory – A bright purple crelly with blue / purple iridescent flakes.

$10 USD / $12 AUD

Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula has a somewhat heavy feel during application and has a nice squishy factor to it. For opacity, I’d say 2-3 coats but I’d honestly do three really thin coats to get an insane pond effect going with the flakes. The base is a lovely deep purple and the flakes appear as a luminescent glowing blue/violet. No texture after topcoat.

Old Friend Of Mine – A medium brown holographic with subtle gold shimmer and iridescent flakes.
$11 USD / $13 AUD
Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula feels similar to A Better Tomorrow (the blue holo) in richness and opacity. The base is a neutral, almost taupe brown on me. The holo is linear, and the flakes give a lovely pastel shifting rainbow overall. I had no issues here either, and after topcoat I had no texture.

Parallel Worlds  – A pink / purple base with green / blue / purple / red aurora shimmer.
$12 USD / $14 AUD
Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula feels medium/light but builds quickly. Now, out of the three foils in this collection this one has the deeper base. My swatches are going crazy with the shimmer, but just note this is the darker of the three. I’d say full opacity for 2-3 coats depending on application preference, and it does dry down a touch satin like so I’d recommend a glossy topcoat to really get those shimmers popping. You’ll see them shift from a rich green/copper, to pink and a bright red on angles (especially in the shade).

Sheer Thrills – A very pale purple with very strong green to pink shifting shimmer and green to purple chrome flakes.
$10 USD / $12 AUD
Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula has a crelly feel during application and built up quickly. The base is a neutral lavender in my opinion, that I was a little weary of it washing out on me, however I was pleasantly surprised that it popped very well against my warm tones. The flakes are abundant here and lay down flat, they mostly appear as an emerald green and shift to a darkened purple. After topcoat, I had no texture. This one does dry down a touch matte so I’d recommend a glossy topcoat. The shimmers shift from a lime green to a dusky purple.

The Dragon King – A dark khaki green crelly filled with pink / orange / green iridescent flakes.
$10 USD / $12 AUD
Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula has a jelly feel but builds quickly. I’d say 2-3 coats for opacity. The base color is an interesting shade to me, I almost wish I had a straight creme in this color as I don’t think I have anything like it in my massive collection. It’s a dusky, almost mossy green that’s very earthy. The flakes are aplenty here as well and give a glorious rainbow all over. They’re in various sizes so they make a fabulous pond effect. I mean, look at that giant one on my middle finger. No texture after topcoat.

The Uttermost  – A pink / coral base with gold / green / purple aurora shimmer.
$12 USD / $14 AUD
Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula has a smooth crelly feel during application, and builds quickly. The base color is what I would consider a true peachy coral, and I’d say even if you have warm tones like me it’ll still pop really well. I’d recommend a glossy topcoat to really get the shimmers to pop; they’ll shift from a gold to green, to pink and on extreme angles a vibrant purpley-pink.

Undertones – A bright red based purple with blue to purple shifting foil shimmer.
$9 USD / $11 AUD
Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula is very similar to the other two foils in this release and is the more cool toned, in your face purple of the three. The shimmer in this shifts from a strong aqua/turquoise color to a rich purple to that vibrant fuchsia pink shade.
