Hello lovelies! Today I have Zoya’s new summer collection to share with you all! The Barefoot collection features 12 polishes in classic and bright summer shades, mostly in creams with a touch of shimmer and glitter as well! In this post I will cover the more classic shades, and the next post will feature the bright shades!
This post is also doubling as a review for Sassy Cat’s Lacquer topcoats in Purrfect Shine and Purrfect Matte. All topcoats shown in this post and the second post are using those two. Overall I’d say Purrfect Shine is a quick dry topcoat that functions as a normal quick dry topcoat that leaves you shiny and features a thinner consistency than most quick dry topcoats. It quickly dries down the top layer and takes a little longer for the bottom layers so for that reason I’d say it’s great for normal use but I would hesitate to recommend it for swatching (if you’re applying polish over latex and peeling off within minutes). The formula overall for Purrfect Shine is thinner and slightly wets the underlayer so I’d recommend going in with very minimal brush strokes and gliding the topcoat over your polish and letting it do its thing. The matte topcoat, Purrfect Matte is similar in consistency with the slightly thinner formula and takes a few minutes to matte down your nails. It’s a strong matte, though not harsh and certainly stronger than a satin matte. Swatches for all of these using the matte topcoat show it over Purrfect Shine as I recommend using a quick dry followed by a matte topcoat to seal everything in for even coverage and quick dry time. At the end of this post I’ll share a special code for my followers for a discount on these! ❤
Let’s dive in!
Joey– a warm, light pink cream
Swatches show three coats with topcoat. Formula is medium and starts off streaky but in the second and third coat everything evened out. Self leveling is strong and gave me that plump look I always go for on the third coat. I’d suggest going in thin with this one and allowing it to build up for the best look in my opinion. For a warm tone, this polish really popped on me. Overall I think all of the more traditional shades flattered me very well and I actually wore the hell out of them after this post. If you’re medium to deep toned don’t be shy for these warmed peachy tones as I loved how they looked on me!
Joey matted with Purrfect Matte:
Liza– rich, cardinal red cream
Swatches show two coats with topcoat. This has a richer consistency and applied very smooth and buttery on the nail. Self leveling in very strong here. The color is super interesting to me as it’s not the traditional stark red we usually see from the brand but a red with a very, very light berry undertone.
Liza matted with Purrfect Matte:
Keira– a medium sandy taupe with a light copper shimmer running throughout.
Swatches show three coats with topcoat. Formula is a little thinner here and plumped out for me at three coats. The base is the taupe shade and the shimmer is a strong, larger particle copper.
Keira matted with Purrfect Matte:
Tessa– a soft peach-toned salmon with a warm gold and coral micro-shimmer running throughout.
Swatches show three coats with topcoat. Formula feels similar to Joey, so go in with minimal brush strokes and let it do its thing. I LOVED this one too, legit neutral perfection in my opinion. The shimmer is very subtle in person but warms up everything.
Tessa matted with Purrfect Matte:
Marcy– a shimmering bright, hot coral.
Swatches show three coats with topcoat. Formula feels like Keira, and plumped out for me at three coats. This is a searing hot coral, with a strong red undertone that almost flirts with orange. This feels very vintage to me.
Marcy matted with Purrfect Matte:
Robbie– a fizzy raspberry punch with a gold fleck.
Swatches show two coats with topcoat. This will give the appearance of texture, but I assure you after topcoat it’s smooth. Overall another very flattering shade and the gold flecks are larger so you’ll see them whether glossy or matted.
