Hello lovely readers! I have so much to show you all this weekend! I’ve been able to voice over a ton of swatch videos without all the added noise from my kiddo as he’s back to school! My semester starts again next week too, and I’m so looking forward to it (for once). I am finally enrolled in thesis hours as opposed to strict lecture hours so it’ll be nice to only be working on my project. SO! I’m starting off this post-a-thon with Fandom Flakies first box for 2020 and we have The Bachelorette theme with guest makers Fair Maiden. I really loved this box, the names are adorable and the colors are very flattering! Let’s get to the swatches!
Bees Knees Lacquer: Can I Steal You for a Minute – a blue to purple pastel multichrome with light gold and dark gold flakes.
Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula is smooth on application and looked just fine for me at the second coat. There’s a ton of reflective sparkle from the flakes and the multichrome shimmer has a lovely obvious blue to purple color roll. When wearing it alone, the flakes are the eye catcher. I wasn’t satisfied that you couldn’t really see the multichrome shimmer, so I went ahead and used one coat over a black base and I think it gave a better idea of all the aspects. So honestly, I think this one is really versatile if you wanted to wear it alone or as a topper.
Night Owl Lacquer: I’m Here For the Right Reasons – a murky greenish grey filled with crystal chameleon flakes that shift green/red/pink/gold.
Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula has a crelly feel to it with a bit of a squish factor in the final look. Personally, I’d recommend between 2-3 coats for full opacity. I had no problems with the flakes and they appear very obvious and iridescent against the base. Speaking of, the base color leans quite a bit as a cool toned grey in my swatches and I think it’s a bit of a chameleon because depending on your lighting you’ll see a murky green lean to it. No texture after topcoat.
Fair Maiden: Fantasy Suite – Magenta rose to clear thermal with color shifting shimmer and multichrome flakes.
Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula is crelly like and dries down matte, so personally I’d recommend a glossy topcoat to really exploit it. The warm state is colorless, though the shimmer is so strong it’ll give a peachy glow and the cold state is a gorgeous vibrant magenta. The thermal properties are crazy reactive, so I think even if you don’t have much free edge to work with you’ll see a lot of color change happening.
The Bachelorette box releases on January 10th at noon EST and will be on preorder until January 17th and at 11:59pm EST on 1/17. All three full sized polishes will be $30 plus shipping. Be sure to check out my swatch video to see these in action!
Thanks so much for reading! ❤
