*PRESS SAMPLE: these were sent to me for an honest review*

Hello lovely readers! It’s that time again! This month’s theme for Polish Pickup is Aquatic Wonder and we have another round of amazing goodies from dozens of makers! I find myself lately wanting binge things that I love, and I’m so thankful that I have such a beast of a post this round. I have 25 products that will be available this weekend so grab some snacks, and let’s dive right in!

Alchemy Lacquers: Halophile

  • Description: a hot pink (cold state) to bubblegum pink (warm state) thermal packed with pink/red/orange/gold/green shifting flakes and hot pink flakes (which can been seen in the warm state)
  • Inspiration:  pink salt lakes (pictured Lake Hillier in Australia). Halophiles are the salt loving microorganisms found in the lakes that cause them to turn pink!
  • Price: $11.50
  • Cap: 75US/5UK

Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula is crelly like and easily builds up to opacity. The thermal properties are very reactive and either state appearance opalescent from the flakes. This dries down matte, so I’d recommend a glossy topcoat.

Baroness X: Acetone Antidote in Atlantis

  • Description: Atlantis scent: a peach base with a hint of black coconut and a touch of salty sea air. Acetone Antidote is an additive for your acetone to protect your skin from the harshness of acetone. It contains glycerin and jojoba oil to help protect and moisturize your nails, skin, and cuticles during polish removal. Plus, no more ashy, dry skin!
  • Inspiration: Atlantis
  • Price: $4.25
  • Cap: None

This month’s scent is fresh and crisp! I get a prominent peach top note with the coconut and sea are in the after notes. It’s so pleasant and tropical like. I personally like to use a full vial in one 8 ounce pump bottle and then fill the rest with 100% pure acetone. This gives you the power of pure acetone in polish remove, but leaves your cuticles soft and hydrated with a lingering scent.

Blush Lacquers: The Black Pearl

  • Description: a smokey dark grey nail polish with a shifting pink-orange-gold-green shimmer.
  • Inspiration: Tahitian black pearls
  • Price: $12
  • Cap: None

Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula is creamy and smooth and plumped up perfectly for me at two coats. There’s a lot of glow from the shimmer and it mostly appears as a pinky appearance in indoor lighting, with a lovely gold and green shift at angles.

By Dany Vianna: Tortoiseshell

  • Description: a brown jelly base, with a mix of black and brown glitters and a tiny bit of metallic gold flakes.
  • Inspiration: Tortoiseshell
  • Price: $11.50
  • Cap: 200 bottles

Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula feel ultra smooth an jelly like on application. True to jelly style, this will darken the base color depending on how you wear it. I stopped at two coats because I thought I had excellent coverage at the second coat. This dries down semi-gloss so I think any topcoat will be just fine.

Cameo Colours Lacquers: Coronate Medusa

  • Description: An orange leaning red crelly, full of scattered holo sparkle, red/gold shimmer, orange-gold crystal chameleon flakes, red/gold/green shifting flakes, and silver holo micro flakes.
  • Inspiration: Atolla jellyfish
  • Price: $11.50
  • Cap: none

Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula behaves very creamy and opaque and flirts with being a one coater. Please note, my swatches are leaning a little orange: the base color is a red/orange and is very bright but I fear that on monitors they are going to skew more orange. This is lovely a vibrant, and pulls as a warm red with strong orange undertones.

Cupcake Polish: Ready for this Jelly

  • Description: a cool red jelly base with pink/blue and pink/orange/gold/green iridescent flakes
  • Inspiration: Jellyfish from Galveston
  • Price: $13
  • Cap: None

Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula is jelly like but has a strong opacity to it. The flakes behaved perfectly and I got excellent payoff from each coat. The base color is pulling very warm in my swatches so please note in indoor lighting, it is more of a raspberry shade. I wore this around my apartment for a little while to better describe it. I think my camera was just latching on on the the flakes here. It’s vibrant, but a touch more cool toned in person.

Cuticula: Call of the Dolphin

  • Description:  a medium gray crelly full of micro rose gold and turquoise flakes that give off a beautiful shimmer throughout the dark base.
  • Inspiration: Dolphins
  • Price: $12
  • Cap: None

Swatches show three coats with topcoat. Formula is dense on application and has a creamy feel to the brush strokes. I wore this at three coats and I felt that it plumped out perfectly. Those with short nails, but be able to get away with two coats. I topped this off with the Cuticula Limitless topcoat and it was gloriously glossy and smooth.

Mic Drop base coat is a combination of ridge filler, strengthener, and sticky base coat. Fill in ridges, strengthens, and gives a long lasting mani just in one application. Mic Drop is 5 Free (Free of formaldehyde, toluene, DBP, formaldehyde resin, and camphor), Fast Drying and hours of amazing scent once fully dry. Use this in 1 coat under polish and 2 coats when you need some added smoothness and strength without any polish. Fill in ridges, strengthen, and have a long lasting mani in just one application.
  • Limitless Top Coat:
Limitless is her very first 5 Free Scented Quick Dry Top Coat. This amazingly quick drying formula is FREE of Formaldehyde Resin, Camphor, Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP), Toluene, and Formaldehyde. The drying formula will keep your gorgeous manis perfectly protected without any smearing(when using the floating method). • This month’s Lava scent: a blend of tropical fruits with sugared oranges, lemons and limes with hints of exotic tropical florals and mountain greens.
  • Inspiration: The Pixar short, Lava.
  • Price: $16
  • Cap: None

I’d like to start off by saying that I am a rabid fan of Amanda’s silk base coat. Between swatching I wear it at two coats and it gives me a perfect amount of strength. I was hoping the Mic Drop would behave similarly, and I was correct! For the swatch below, I wore it at two coats with is how I prefer to wear it when I am between swatching. I love that her bases have a milky look to them, and gives my dried nails a healthy appearance.

I then tested the Limitless topcoat over some nail art and did the floating method to apply. This is when you go very light with a loaded brush and gently guide your topcoat over your nail art. I found that doing this did not smear my nail art. If you aren’t familiar with this technique, I do it in my swatch video. I have been wearing this nail art from this weekend through today (Tuesday) and I can safely say my nails are like iron right now. I’ve had no chips, and damn my nails look good and are still very glossy. Call me a believer folks! The scent is very tropical to me, and after a thorough sniff test between my husband and myself, I think it smells like Hawaiian Punch! It’s noticeable when you wear it, but not overpower and a fun addition to your mani! PS: go watch that Pixar short, it’s delightful and the song is SO sweet.

DRK Nails: Turquoise Attraction

  • Description: a duochrome base shifting between blue and turquoise  with turquoise shimmer, multichromatic iridescent flakes and pastel flakes in orange/gold/green
  • Inspiration: Maragogi Natural Pools in Alagoas, Brazil
  • Price: $12.90
  • Cap: None

Swatches show two coats on it’s own, and then one coat over a bright blue cream. I think it looks fantastic either way. Formula has a lighter consistency, so if wearing on its own, I’d suggest between 2-3 coats. The magnetic pigment has lots of movement to it, and gives a turquoise shimmer effect.

DRK Nails: Turquoise Reflection glitter kit

  • Description: a set that contains  2.5 grams of iridescent glitter (turquoise/dark blue), a special base (Clingy Base 11ml) and a silicone head stamper (to make it easy to achieve a very leveled final result).
  • Inspiration:
  • Price: $13
  • Cap: 200US/20UK

I saw Kattia’s swatch sticks of this kit, and when I saw the pink one I was like yup. That’s what I’m going to do. So, the kit comes with everything you need to do the glitter nails. Start off with your base color (I chose one of my favorite hot pink creams) and let that dry down. Add a thin layer of the clingy base and let it dry. It’ll appear with a satin finish and then you can go in with the stamper head. I used the cap of the glitter pot to pick up the glitters. The stamper head in the kit is a pretty universal size, so I went ahead and put it on one of my Ejiubas handles and it worked perfectly. Stamp the glitter on your clingy base coat, and voila! Iridescent nails! This technique does leave your nails thirsty, so be sure to use a good viscosity topcoat to smooth out. This looks crazy in person and is both iridescent and sparkly! Any ‘bald spots’ you see on my nails are just the iridescent effect of the glitter. You’ll also get a very strong turquoise shift.

Fair Maiden Polish: Bioluminescence

  • Description: an aqua base with shifts to violet and sea green, iridescent flakes that shift pink-gold-green and holo glitters
  • Inspiration: an image of bioluminescent sponges
  • Price: $11
  • Cap: None

Swatches show three coats with topcoat. Formula is light and smooth and very iridescent. Please note, in person this is definitely a bright aqua but is just a touch darker. This has a lovely shift at extreme angles to violet, and the flakes match that shift. The holo effect is being shy in my swatches, but in person is a dense scattered effect.

Girly Bits: You Look Marbelous

  • Description: an intentionally sheer aqua blue base with a glowing aqua blue shimmer that hints at shades of green and violet at angles. It also has a small amount of glowy iridescent blue flakes.
  • Inspiration: The marble caves of Patagonia
  • Price: $13
  • Cap: None

Swatches show three coats with topcoat. Formula is light and jelly like, and intentionally soft so at some angles I could see just at touch of my visible nail line. This is very glowy and a strong aqua and just overall very vibrant. I think this would also look really cool over a matching base color too.

Glisten and Glow: Baby Shark

  • Description: a medium bright blue crellie loaded with hex and dot glitters in various sizes of neon glitters in shades of pink, red, orange, yellow, green, and blue
  • Inspiration: the viral song/video of baby shark
  • Price: $12.50
  • Cap: US: none/UK: 35

Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula is very creamy and dense on application.  This is definitely a bright medium blue (not quite neon) and I had excellent glitter payoff on my coats. I topped off with the Glisten & Glow topcoat, and I had no texture afterwards.

Glisten and Glow: topcoat duo

  • Description:
    • glossy, quick dry topcoat: award winning topcoat with a dry time between 2-4 minutes leaving your nails durable and preventing chipping and tip wear. Dries down to a wet/gel like appearance and non smearing for nail art. This also glows under a black light!
    • matte topcoat: creates a beautiful matte finish with 5-7 minute dry time with a smooth, velvet finish and no streaks. Recommended use: one coat over the glossy topcoat.
  • Price: $14.50
  • Cap: none

You guys know by now (especially those that subscribe to my channel) that I’ve put Jill’s glossy topcoat to the test time and time again. It has a lovely smooth feel on application and leaves you glossy and very quick drying. It’s also perfect for swatching so you can pull off that latex super quick since it dries so quickly. I’ve used it in nail art, and as a heavy handed person I’ve never had streaking with it.

This month’s duo also also has her matte topcoat. It has a delightfully smooth feel and when applied over the glossy topcoat (in the case below) I had everything smoothed out and a harsher type of matte effect.

Lemming Lacquer: Electric Pillow Fish

  • Description: a purple(cool) to turquoise(warm) thermal jelly with purple/blue/cyan shifting shimmer and purple/pink/orange/gold flakes.
  • Inspiration:
  • Price: $13
  • Cap: 250US/25UK

Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula is dense and heavy and flirts with full opacity at one coat. The thermal properties are very reactive. It does dry down matte, so I’d recommend a good glossy topcoat to really make those flakes pop.

Night Owl Lacquer: Rainbow Bite

  • Description: an off-white crelly with a gold/green shimmer, copper sparks and tons of copper/red/green/gold crystal chameleon flakes
  • Inspiration: Albino Rainbow Shark
  • Price: $12.50
  • Cap: None

Swatches show three thin coats with topcoat. Formula is light and crelly like, and has a strong squish factor to it. I feel like my full hand shots are more representative to what I see in person: it’s an off white crelly with a neutral pull. The flakes give a strong copper and gold glow with green at extreme angles.

Pahlish: Little Sea Creature

  • Description: a sheer black base packed with green/gold/blue micro flake shimmers and scattered pink/gold/green shimmer
  • Inspiration: sea slugs that photosynthesize
  • Price: $13
  • Cap: None

Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula is smooth and dense, and applies very opaque at the second coat. This is very shifty, with the little micro flakes taking over the opacity. There’s a lovely blue shift at angles. This dries down flat, so I’d recommend a glossy topcoat to make it pop.

Poetry Cowgirl Polish: Where the Ocean Meets the Sky

  • Description: a vivid purple jelly packed with magenta-red-gold-green shifting shimmer.
  • Inspiration: sunset over the ocean
  • Price: $12
  • Cap: 150US/10UK

Swatches show three coats with topcoat. Formula is light but smooth and starts off sheer, so I’d recommend normal coats to make that base color more opaque. This is lovely and has a strong magenta glow to easily shifts to green at angles.

  • Inspiration: Blue, purple, and green anemones
  • Price: $11.50
  • Cap: 140 US/10 UK

Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula is dense and creamy and builds up quickly. The thermal properties are very reactive here too, and you’ll easily see the three colors especially if you have a bit of free edge to your nails. This dries down matte, so again I’d recommend a glossy topcoat.

Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula is creamy on application and has a dense feel. This builds up crazy fast to opacity and in person the green shift is very obvious. I love the little iridescent glitters, it so matches up to what a coconut octopus looks like. This does dry naturally with some texture, but after topcoat it smoothed out easily.

I’m a huge fan of Krys’s bath and body stuff and I love her Goat Milk lotion very much. This also doubles as an excellent hand moisturizer for all of this hand washing. This month’s scent smells like a creamy coconut popsicle if you’ve ever had one. It’s so pleasant and smooth and has just a bit of the salty ocean air in the under notes. I love it, and if you’re a coconut lover like me, I highly recommend this one.
