Hello lovely readers! I have a few big posts to show you all over the next few days. I’m starting off with Alchemy Lacquer’s new collection inspired by gorgeous and exotic birds and their plumage! If you follow the brand on instagram, she’s posted some collages featuring her bloggers and the inspiration behind each color and I’ve got to say, she absolutely nailed it! Let’s take a closer look!
Wild Blue Yonder – a sky blue nail lacquer with red/orange/gold/green shifting shimmer with a scattered linear holographic finish. $11.50
Swatches show three coats with topcoat. Formula is crelly like and light, but builds up to opacity easily. I went in thin and found awesome plumpness and opacity at the third coat. This dries down somewhat flat, but I think any topcoat will be fine.
Resplendent Quetzal – a turquoise jelly nail lacquer with lime green/green/turquoise/blue shifting shimmer, turquoise/blue/purple shifting flakies, turquoise flakes with a scattered linear holographic finish. Price: $11.00
Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula is medium like and builds up quickly. This has an almost foiled like finish and lots of sparkle. No texture after topcoat.
Scarlet Macaw – is a scarlet red jelly nail lacquer with red/orange/gold/green shifting shimmer. $11.00
Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula is smooth and jelly like, but applies and builds up quickly. My swatches have a heavy orange lean, so please note in person there is a touch of an orange undertone, but it’s more of a bright, warm red.
Himalayan Monal – a bright blue/purple jelly nail lacquer with blue/purple shifting shimmer and turquoise/blue/purple shifting flakes. $11.00
Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula is jelly like, but builds very quickly on the nail. This takes on a blurple appearance in my opinion, with a more purple lean at angles and in duller lights (I swatch in very bright lights so you guys can see detail).
Violet-backed Starling – a violet nail lacquer with red micro flakes, purple/magenta/pink/orange/green shifting shimmer with a linear holographic finish. $11.00
Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula is jelly like, but builds up quickly. This has a lovely linear holo effect, and you can see little dark purple flecks from the shimmer. This also dries down flat, so again I’d suggest a glossy topcoat.
Southern Cassowary – a teal jelly nail lacquer with turquoise/blue/purple shifting shimmer and blue/purple/pink/copper shifting chrome flakes and metallic and holographic magenta glitter. $11.00
Swatches show three coats with topcoat. Formula is rich and jelly like, and honestly I feel like I should have stopped at the second coat. This is lovely and applies similar to the blue in the collection.
Nicobar Pigeon – a cool dark grey crelly nail lacquer with lime-green/green/blue shifting flakes and lime green micro flakes. Note: the flakes used in this polish impart a slightly unpleasant odor to the lacquer. $11.00
Swatches show two coats with topcoat. This has a crelly feel on application. I’d like to note that my nose did not detect any bad odor with this one. Usually I can detect the skunk-y like smell from a lot of blue pigments, but I didn’t notice anything different than the usual polish smell. That said, please note that if you have a sensitive nose. My swatches lean a little light, in person this is just a touch darker.
Superb Bird of Paradise – a mint green nail lacquer with green/turquoise/purple/pink shifting shimmer and micro silver holographic glitter. $10.50
Swatches show three coats with topcoat. Formula is smooth and creamy and builds up perfectly (in my opinion) at three thin coats. This is vibrant and so flattering, and as a mint and blue lover, this is my favorite in the set. This dries down satin like, so I’d recommend a glossy topcoat.
The Birds of a Feather release April 25th 7pm est. Be sure to check out my swatch video to see these in action!
