PRESS SAMPLE: these were sent to me for an honest review

Hello lovely readers! It’s that time, and I have another big post for June’s Polish Pickup! I actually had a few more to show you all, unfortunately, the mail has been crazy lately so some were lost, returned to sender, or have taken a detour around Texas. If I get any more in time for the shop to open I’ll be sure to share my swatches with mini videos to the Facebook group. This month we have the sequel theme, and we have another round of cocktails and mocktails! We have such a lovely variety this month, so let’s dive right in!

Alchemy Lacquers: Framboijito

  • Description: a red leaning raspberry jelly with pink/red/gold/green shifting shimmer with scatted shades of pink/red/orange/gold/green shifting flakes and gold micro holographic glitter
  • Inspiration: a classic mojito with a raspberry twist
  • Price: $11.50
  • Cap: 150US/5UK

Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula is jelly like, but builds up easily. My full hand shot is appearing a little warm, so please refer to my swatch video and macros for better representation. Reds habitually give me trouble!

Baroness X: Fluid nail art duo

  • Description: *both are 8 mL
    • Loco Unicorn: a pastel teal fluid art polish with a touch of violet to gold shimmer and glass flakies.
    • Coco Berry: a pastel pink fluid art polish with a touch of green to blue shimmer and glass flakies
  • Inspiration: a beautiful berry-orange-coconut cocktail called Loco Unicorn
  • Price: $12 (duo)
  • Cap: None

I’ll admit, I was very apprehensive as to whether or not I could do this technique. Surprisingly, it worked out easily! There’s a lot of ways to do fluid nail art: water marbling, applying directly to the nail, or making decals. I went with the decal method. The fluid art polishes themselves basically make ‘cells’ on your nails, and depending on how much you use, they will appear smaller or larger. I have a quickie tutorial on how I made these in the swatch video.

Baroness X: Acetone Antidote in the scent Lit Dole Whip

  • Description: Scent: tart, frozen pineapple treat from Disney, blended with rum.
Acetone Antidote is an additive for your acetone to protects your skin from the harshness of acetone. It contains glycerin and jojoba oil to help protect and moisturize your nails, skin, and cuticles during polish removal. Plus, no more ashy, dry skin!
    Recommended Use:
Shake the vial and add the full bottle (.5oz) to 6-8oz of acetone. You can add the vial to more or less (down to 4oz of acetone per vial). These are just suggestions for optimal scent and protection from acetone, the ratio can vary due to personal preference.
Once the AA is added to your acetone just shake the bottle. Most scents stay blended forever, when they don’t it just depends on the fragrance oil used. If you go to use it on another day, and you see it has separated just give it another shake.
  • Inspiration: a cocktail of dole whip and rum
  • Price: $4.25
  • Cap: None

This month’s acetone antidote scent is right up my alley (but really, when have I not been in love with a BX scent?). I get mostly a sweet pure pineapple scent with a hint of vanilla in the undertones and a soft touch of rum. It’s delightful!

Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula is crelly like and smooth on application. This dries down a bit flat, so I’d recommend a glossy topcoat.

Cameo Colours Lacquers: Blackberry Basil Moscow Mule

  • Description: A copper/gold/green ultrachrome base full of holo sparkle, red/bronze/copper and lime-blue-gold UCC flakes, plus a smattering of silver holo micro flakes.
  • Inspiration: a blackberry basil Moscow mule
  • Price: $12
  • Cap: 100 bottles (95 US/5 UK)

Swatches show three thin coats with topcoat. I think most will get away with two coats, but I wanted it really ‘plump’ in the final look. This dries down flat, so I’d recommend a glossy topcoat.

Cupcake Polish: Pink Lemonade

  • Description: a pink crème nail polish packed with orange/gold/green shifting aurora iridescent shimmer
  • Inspiration: Pink Lemonade
  • Price: $13

Swatches show three thin coats with topcoat. Formula is light, but creamy on application. If you tend to apply in normal/heavy coats, I think you’ll be fine at two.

Cuticula: Purple Passion

  • Description: a deep purple jelly with iridescent shifting flakes, blue-green micro flakes, green metallic micro flakes, blue metallic micro flakes, turquoise metallic micro flakes, and ultra holo silver holographic micro flakes
  • Inspiration:
  • Price: $12
  • Cap: None

Swatches show three thin coats with topcoat. I went in light on my coats, and it plumped out nicely on the third coat. Those that go in somewhat heavier could get away with two coats. For a jelly, this builds up very quickly.

Cuticula: Limitless Topcoat and Nail Nectar Duo

  • Description: both scented in wild passion fruit Bellini.
  • Inspiration: Wild passion fruit Bellini
  • Price: $16
  • Cap: 290US/10UK

I’ve been using the Nail Nectar cuticle oil extensively since it arrived and I really like the formula. A little goes a long way, and at night I like to really slather it on. The doe foot applicator is large and firm so it’s perfect for getting underneath your free edge. Both topcoat and cuticle oil are scented in wild passion fruit Bellini; and it’s fruity and very pleasant. It almost reminds me of a peachy type scent. I’ve been using Limitless topcoat for a little while, and I really like how glossy it makes your manis. When it dries down, you’ll also get a pleasant scent that lasts about a day or two. When using it over nail art, be sure to use the bead method to prevent smearing: you basically allow a nice sized bead on your brush and softly apply the topcoat.

DRK Nails: Hurricane

  • Description: a violet jelly base mixed with micro-flakes iridescent red/pink/green, aurora and iridescent flakes orange to green
  • Inspiration: a Hurricane Cocktail
  • Price: $13
  • Cap: 300US/25UK

Swatches show three coats with topcoat. My full hand shot got totally blown out, so again please refer to my swatch video and macros for better color representation. Overall, this is very luminescent with the flakes. The formula is light, but dries quickly so I think it looks best at three coats.

DRK Nails: Clingy Base

  • Description: a base coat to help apply glitters and flakes. To achieve the best results, apply over a base color and let dry for one minute. Then apply your glitter or flakies and you’ll get excellent payoff.
  • Price: $8
  • Cap: 150US/25UK

Each bottle comes with the little vial of iridescent glitter. I applied the Clingy base to all of my nails except my ring finger so you can see the difference. Glitter was applied with a sticky stamper (the one that came with her glitter kit a few PPUs ago). You can definitely see a big difference with how much more glitter gets applied than without it. I have a full demo on my swatch video.

Emily de Molly: Coolth

  • Description: a turquoise blue crelly with matte white glitters
  • Inspiration: Blue margaritas
  • Price: $10
  • Cap: 150US/20UK

Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula is smooth and creamy on application and self levels easily.  There’s lots of glitter payoff in your brush strokes and I had no texture after topcoat.

Esmaltes da Kelly: Taste the Rainbow

  • Description: a clear base with gold, orange, red, blue, green,Royal, violet holographic glitters, silver holographic micro flakie, iridescent flakies in various colors
  • Inspiration: a rainbow drink
  • Price: $12.50
  • Cap: None

Swatches show two coats with EDK glitter smoothing topcoat. Formula is jelly like with a touch of squish, and builds up quickly to opacity. Lots of bling to be seen here. It is thirsty for topcoat, so I’d suggest a glitter smoothing topcoat or a heavier topcoat to prevent texture.

  • Inspiration: mango White-Claw

Pahlish: Champagne Float

  • Description: soft champagne pink with a mix of golden and iridescent flakes with bright pink shimmer
  • Inspiration: a champagne float
  • Price: $13
  • Cap: None

Swatches show three coats with topcoat. This is a delicate type of jelly, and really makes me think of bridal polish. It’s leans more of a neutral pink on me with a hint of iridescence from the flakes. If you have a prominent free edge like myself, you might see a touch of your smile line. There’s a bit of squish to the formula, and it self levels nicely.

  • Price: $12
  • Cap: 350

Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula is creamy and dense on application with squishy self leveling. The flakes are very prominent, and I think they show up better in my swatch video. There’s lots of shift from them, and the base color really lets them pop.

Supernatural Lacquer: Olive a Sudden

  • Description: an olive jelly base with purple/blue/red ultrachrome flakes.
  • Inspiration: bloody Mary olives
  • Price: $12
  • Cap: 165US/10UK

Swatches show three coats with topcoat. Formula is jelly like, but so very smooth and satisfying. It builds up to a strong juicy looking appearance. I don’t usually gravitate towards this color, but the whole thing comes together perfectly. The flakes appear in deep tones of purple and blue. I’d suggest a glossy topcoat to really maximize the juicy-ness.

Whatcha: Maleficent Drink

  • Description: an electric purple crelly with red glitter
  • Inspiration: the Maleficent Drink
  • Price: $13
  • Cap: 200US/20UK

Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula is crazy dense, creamy, and self leveling on application. I was worried this was going to look crazy on camera, but my video and swatches didn’t come out too horrible in terms of color accuracy. I agree it’s a total electric purple that’s very vibrant. Another new to me brand that I really enjoyed the formula on.
