PRESS SAMPLE: these were sent to me for an honest review
We’re getting closer to Halloween (squee!) which means Halloween themes are coming in hot! Each year Necessary Evil Polish hosts a Cursed Box featuring herself and six other makers. This year’s box is themed Horror Films, and we’ve got lots of goodies and info to check out, so let’s start with the polishes.
Baroness X: Redrum– a linear holo with black jelly base and red metallic microflakies
Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula is jelly like, but opaque on application. There’s lots of holo here, and the little red metallic flakes are very dense, so you’ll get a reddish caste against a lovely deep chocolate base. This dries down semi-gloss so I think any topcoat will work.
Fanchromatic Nails: The Grudge– A blood red crelly with a shimmer that shifts green/blue/purple, and a haunting array of iridescent color-shifting flakies
Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula is dense and crelly like and builds up quickly. This applies very plump and deepens out wonderfully at the second coat. I’d suggest a glossy topcoat as it dries down very flat.
Great Lakes Lacquer: True Sorrow is as Rare as True Love– a purple based multichrome with shifts of magenta, red, orange, and gold
Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula is creamy like and applies very smooth on the nail. This is what I consider a vampy type of multichrome with a prominent purple/red in indoor lighting with a strong orange and gold shift in shaded lighting and angles. It dries down semi-gloss, so again I think any topcoat will be just fine.
Heather’s Hues: Camp Crystal Lake– a holo base with a strong iridescent red/pink/orange/gold shimmer and flakes and a touch of multichrome flakes in violet/pink/gold/green and pink/blue/violet
Swatches show three coats with topcoat. Formula applies somewhat jelly like with a touch of a metallic feel. There’s loads of small to medium flakes that give their own color roll, and the background is very holographic. I’d suggest three coats on this one to really plump it out and maximize the pond effect from the flakes.
Lynn B Designs: When People Get Desperate, The Knives Come Out– a deep plum to clear thermal with red to green to gold shifting UCC flakies, and hints of holo shimmer
Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula applies smooth and jelly like. Since the warm state is colorless, I think two coats is just fine. There’s versatility here in that you can definitely wear an undie for the warm state to show up as a different color. This temperature reactivity is very strong and shifted easily for me. I’d suggest a glossy topcoat to get that glassy looking effect.
Necessary Evil Polish: Creep It Real– Grayed lavender cream with black, orange and neon green glitter if various size and scattered holo
Swatches show three coats with topcoat. Formula is crelly like but smooth and creamy on the brush strokes. I’d suggest three thin coats to maximize the glitters on your nails, and a glossy topcoat to make this pop like crazy.
Zombie Claw Polish: Do You like Scary Movies?– A neon magenta pink with scattered holo, black shards and black holo glitter blend!
Swatches show three coats with topcoat. Formula feels jelly like but builds up easily. The base color is very flattering, and a lovely neon pink. I had no issues with the shards, and I’d suggest a glossy topcoat here too.
Those who purchase the full box will also get some Halloween candy, a light up jelly ring, and this adorable wax melt in the scent Pumpkin Spice Twists. I smell lots of pumpkin pie spice, with strong notes of cinnamon on cold sniff.
The Halloween Cursed box will be up for pre-order September 1st through September 15th. The full box with all seven polishes, candies, light up jelly ring, and the ghost wax melt will be $63 with FREE shipping.
You do have the option of purchasing polishes separately for $10 each plus shipping.
