PRESS SAMPLE: these were sent to me for an honest review
Hello lovely readers! It’s that time again! I don’t know where September went, especially after August taking four years to finish up. I’m running a little behind on my polish pickup post, the mail hasn’t been kind as we all know. Never the less, I’m here before the shop opens so let’s take a peek at some goodies!
Alchemy Lacquers: Blazing Sword
- Description: a periwinkle jelly with red/orange/gold/green shifting shimmer, pink/gold/green clear shifting flakes and micro holographic glitter
- Inspiration: Voltron
- Price: $11.50
- Cap: 150US/15UK
Swatches show three coats with topcoat. Formula is jelly like with a bit of squish. I’d suggest three coats to maximize coverage and shimmer payoff.
Alchemy Lacquers: Shiny
- Description: a nail effect topper with green/blue/purple/pink chrome flakes, green/purple/blue shimmer, purple and turquoise micro flakes and multi-sized purple and turquoise holographic glitter
- Inspiration: the shiny version of the Espion Pokemon
- Price: $11
- Cap: 100US/10UK
Swatches show one coat over SinfunShine Rendezvous, and a glossy topcoat. This offers quite a bit of flakie payoff in one coat, with minimal placement. I think it’ll look great over light and dark colors.
Baroness X: Acetone Antidote in the Scent Candy Kingdom
- Description: Acetone Antidote is an additive for your acetone to protect your skin from the harshness of acetone. It contains glycerin and jojoba oil to help protect and moisturize your nails, skin, and cuticles during polish removal. Plus, no more ashy, dry skin!
- Scent notes: a mix of pineapple, bubble gum and cotton candy. It smells like someone added pineapple to Juicy Fruit gum.
-
Shake the vial and add the full bottle (.5oz) to 6-8oz of acetone. You can add the vial to more or less (down to 4oz of acetone per vial). These are just suggestions for optimal scent and protection from acetone, the ratio can vary due to personal preference.Once the AA is added to your acetone just shake the bottle. Mostscents stay blended forever, when they don’t it just depends on thefragrance oil used. If you go to use it on another day, and you see ithas separated just give it another shake.
- Inspiration: Adventure Time’s Candy Kingdom
- Price: $4.25
- Cap: None
This month’s AA smells lovely. It’s candy like, with a top note of pineapple and other fruits but a candy note overall.
Blush Lacquers: My Spinach Puffs!
- Description: a medium tan nail polish with blue-purple shifting multichrome flakes and gold flakes.
- Inspiration: Kronk from The Emperor’s New Groove
- Price: $11
- Cap: None
Swatches show three coats with topcoat. Formula is crelly like, and smooth on the brush strokes. I think some can get away with two coats, but I think that third coat really plumps it out perfectly. The base color will definitely play up against your skin tone as to whether it leans more nude or tan.
By Dany Vianna: Card Captor Sakura
- Description: A white (hot) to pink (cold) thermal with gold metallic flakes and red glitter
- Inspiration: Card Captor Sakura
- Price: $12
- Cap: 280US/20UK
Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula is creamy, buttery and smooth on application. I think most will be just fine at two coats. This does dry down flat (which is characteristic of thermals), so I’d recommend a glossy topcoat.
Cameo Colours Lacquers: Courage of the Heart
- Description: A taupe-ish grey crelly base, full of scattered holo sparkle, red/green shimmer, red/gold/green color shifting flakes, a touch of red/gold/green iridescent hex micro glitter, a dash of lime/blue/gold UCC flakes, and holo micro flakes
- Inspiration: The Secret of NIMH
- Price: $11.50
- Cap: 95US/5UK
Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula is crelly like, but dense, smooth and easy to build up. This also dries down flat, so again I’d suggest a glossy topcoat to make the sparkles pop.
Crystal Knockout: Makin’ Mischief
- Description: a dark mauve to bright green thermal full of holo glitter in pink, purple, and green, with black micro glitter.
- Inspiration: The Misfits
- Price: $11.50
- Cap: None
Swatches show two coats with topcoat. This feels more jelly like, but applies like a full coverage glitter. Again, I’d suggest a good topcoat to seal it off and smooth everything out.
Cupcake Polish: Tale as Old as Time
- Description:– a yellow polish filled with magical red shimmer and flakies and a hint of holographic flakies for added sparkle
- Inspiration: Belle’s dress from Beauty and the Beast
- Price: $13
- Cap: None
Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula is crelly like and builds up quickly. I think 2-3 coats is perfect depending on how you apply. The shimmer is strong and warms up the base color. This type of yellow is a legit match for Belle’s dress.
Cuticula: Pretty Guardians
- Description: a stunning black jelly base with a rainbow of metallic flakes in gold, blue, aqua, red, and purple. Each flake gives off a beautiful metallic shine of color throughout the dark base
- Inspiration: The guardians from Sailor Moon
- Price: $12.50
- Cap: None
Swatches show three coats with topcoat. Formula is smooth and buttery on application. Depending on how you apply, 2-3 coats is perfect. I had full opacity on the second coat, but went for the third to give that thickness I’m always going for.
Fair Maiden Polish: Cat & Mouse
- Description: A mousey taupe with red-orange shifting flake, aurora shimmer and subtle holo sparkle
- Inspiration: Tom & Jerry
- Price: $11
- Cap: None
Swatches show three coats with topcoat. Formula is almost jelly like, and easy to build. This will also lean more nude and neutral depending on your skin tone. I think most might achieve opacity at the second coat, but I’d suggest a third to maximize flakie and shimmer payoff.
Femme Fatale: Crystal Citadel
- Description: A sheer blue-toned purple with strong pink-green shift and holographic accent
- Inspiration: the Crystal Citadel from Adventure Time
- Price: $14
- Cap: None
Swatches show three coats with topcoat. Formula is creamy and smooth and self levels well. I’d suggest three normal coats on this to maximize the strong shimmer effect. The holo accents are fine particled, so you’ll get a dense sparkle across your nails in the sun.
Glisten & Glow: Truly Outrageous
- Description: a blurple crelly with various shades shapes and sizes of pink glitters
- Inspiration: Jem and the Holograms
- Price: $12.50
- Cap: 380US/15UK
Swatches show three coats with topcoat. Formula is creamy and smooth on application. I think most can get away with two coats, as my third was just me being extra. I’d suggest a good topcoat to smooth this one out. *last image is shown matted*
Glisten & Glow: Top Coat
- Description: an award winning fast dry glossy topcoat. Dries down in 2-4 minutes, prevents chipping, dries down crystal clear, shiny and glossy with a wet like appearance.
- Price: $7.50
- Cap: 230US/5UK
I’ve worn this so much over the last few months for both blogging and personal use, I highly recommend it. No stamp smearing, and super glossy finish. I tend to accidentally bump my nails when they’re freshly painted during swatching and I’m moving my camera from tripod to my hand for pictures, and this one always dries down so fast I almost never get dents for my swatches. This is the topcoat you’re seeing all swatches for this post.
Lemming Lacquer: Be Our Gnome Queen!
- Description: a forest blue-green jelly with purple to pink to gold to green multichrome and holographic micro flakes
- Inspiration: Gravity Bits- The Rainbow Puking Gnome
- Price: $13
- Cap: 250US/25UK
Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula is jelly like, but dense, smooth, and opaque on application. This has a very obvious pink to green shift at angles, I think it’s being a touch shy in my swatches.
MLF Lacquer: That’s All Folks!
- Description: a yellow when cold to orange when warm thermal polish with red to orange to yellow aurora shimmer and a smidge of linear holographic microflakies
- Inspiration: Looney Tunes
- Price: $12.50
- Cap: 190US/10UK
Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula is smooth and creamy on application and builds quickly. The shimmer compliments both states very well. This also dries down very flat, so I’d suggest a good glossy topcoat.
Night Owl Lacquer: Hot Pants Rain Dance
- Description: a stormy grey crelly packed full with several shades of crystal chameleon flakes to create a rainbow effect
- Inspiration: an episode of Bob’s Burgers
- Price: $13.00
- Cap: None
Swatches show three coats with topcoat. Formula is crelly like, but smooth. I think opacity can be reach at two coats, but that third really darkens out the base color and you’ll get SO many flakes.
Pahlish: Space Land
- Description: smokey violet with a mix of platinum silver and iridescent purple flakes
- Inspiration: Cowboy Bepop
- Price: $13
- Cap: None
Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula is crelly like with a bit of squish to the brush strokes. This is very glowey in person and the silver flakes are strong and almost reflective against the base color.
Poetry Cowgirl Polish: There’s Always a Rainbow
- Description: a cheerful pink shimmer packed with a rainbow of holo glitters and iridescent flakies
- Inspiration: Cheer Bear, the Care Bear
- Price: $11.50
- Cap: None
Swatches show three coats with topcoat. Formula is crelly like with a bit of squish and a touch light. Up close you’ll see the rainbow effect of the glitters, and far away they’ll take on more of an almost matte sparkle effect.
Pretty Beautiful Unlimited: No Capes!
- Description: a blackened navy to blue thermal with micro holographic pigment and flakies, aurora shimmer and a mix of two crystal chameleon flakies.
- Inspiration: Edna from The Incredibles
- Price: $11.50
- Cap: 150US/10UK
Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula is crelly like, and easily builds up. This also dries down flat. I’d classify this one as a tri-thermal as there’s definitely a medium blue phase between the lightest and coldest blues.
Pretty Beautiful Unlimited: Wax Sampler in the theme Saturday Morning
- Description: 15 scent sampler including: Blackberry Jam, Blueberry Lemon Donut, Blueberry Muffin, Buttered Maple Syrup, Captain Crunch Berries, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Cranberry & Orange Scone, Chocolate Chip Pancakes, Fruit Medley, Fruity Rings, Glazed Doughnut, Ruby Red Grapefruit, Strawberry Preserves, Unicorn Pop Tarts & Wildberry Scone (roughly 8 ounces).
- Inspiration: Saturday Morning Cartoons
- Price: $8
- Cap: 180US/20UK
This month’s bag is another excellent one. I always smell Virginia’s packages from my mailbox, and this one was no exception. There’s loads of fruity and bakery this month. I think Unicorn Pop Tarts and Blueberry Lemon Donut are my favorites. Each bag also has a a random charm, this month I got a mermaid 🙂
Quixotic Polish: Almighty TALL
- Description: a squishy red leaning purple base filled to the brim with red/green shifting iridescent flakes
- Inspiration: Invader Zim
- Price: $12.50
- Cap: None
Swatches show three coats with topcoat. Formula is jelly like and smooth. I think opacity can be reached at two coats, but that third really deepens out that perfect red/purple base and you’ll get flakes for miles.
Rogue Lacquer: Goin’ Down The Bayou
- Description: an antique gray with gold, green and copper color shifting flakes with micro holo flakes
- Inspiration: the scene in The Princess and the Frog during the song “Goin Down The Bayou”
- Price: $12.50
- Cap: None
Swatches show three coats with topcoat. Formula is jelly like, and like the Quixotic can be fully opaque at two coats. I think that third thin coats really makes the base pop. The flakes are very large, and I had no issues with them laying down flat.
Supernatural Lacquer: Room On The Broom
- Description: A deep night sky blue base with orange/gold/green multichrome and translucent white flakes
- Inspiration: the book and short film of the same name
- Price: $12
- Cap: None
Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula is jelly like, dense, smooth, and opaque. I think most will be just fine at two coats. The multichrome pigment takes on a shimmer effect that easily shifts over to green at extreme angles. It’s being shy in my macros, but in person you can easily see a glow behind the flakes.
Whatcha: Mordecai Oooh
- Description: a periwinkle crelly with micro glitters
- Inspiration: Mordecai from Original Show
- Price: $13
- Cap: 200US/15UK
Swatches show three coats with topcoat. Formula is crelly like and smooth on application. Once again, this one is also opaque at two coats but I went for a third to deepen it out and get loads more flakes. This also dries down flat, so I’d suggest a glossy topcoat.
