PRESS SAMPLE: these were sent to me for an honest review
Hello lovely readers! I’m sneaking in with this post as I’ve had some tech issues with my new setup. For some reason I couldn’t get my microphone to work properly last weekend so I’ve been tinkering and trouble shooting and now I think I’ve gotten it worked out. So I’m finally getting this review up, and Alchemy Lacquers has a new Halloween inspired collection for us along with a limited edition anniversary color. Let’s take a peek!
Glitter Toppers ($9 each/$33 set)
I want to make a blanket statement that the toppers are intended to be used as just that- however, I went in extra and wore them how I would in real life. Normally with toppers I wear them on their own as I’m extra and love super sparkles or flakies. These perform well as a topper at one coat over a base color. If you’re like me and want to wear them alone, I’d suggest three coats with a touch of careful placement. I think these would also perform very well when sponged for build up. I would suggest a glitter smoothing topcoat or a good glossy topcoat to seal them up.
AB+: a glitter topper featuring red and blank, metallic, matte and holographic, multi-sized glitters in a clear base. Comes with a separate baggie of various sized red and black hearts for extra nail application fun!
Hocus Pocus: a glitter topper featured purple and lavender, metallic, matte and holographic, multi-sized glitter and other multi-colored glitters in a clear base.
Franken-steen: a glitter topper featuring olive green, kelly green, purple, black and white, multi-sized glitters in a clear base.
Party Pumpkin: a glitter topper featuring orange metallic and holographic, multi-sized glitter and other multi-colored glitters in a clear base.
Lacquers ($11.50 each/$43 set)
Hellfire: a white based nail lacquer with red/orange/gold/green/lime shimmer, red/orange/gold/green chrome chameleon flakes with a scattered holographic finish. Can be worn as a nail effect topper or built up in 2-3 coats.
Swatches show three coats with topcoat. Formula is light and jelly like. There’s loads of shimmer here and I can see this looking great over dark colors. When worn on its own there’s a very strong shimmer aspect that shifts over to green at angles. This, along with the other regular polishes dry down flat so I’d suggest a glossy topcoat to finish it off.
Toadstool: a teal jelly nail lacquer with red/orange/green shifting shimmer, gold/green/lime turquoise shifting flakes and micro silver holographic glitter.
Swatches show three coats with topcoat. Formula is light and jelly like. Depending on your preference and nail length, you might get away with two coats, but I think three deepens out the base color well.
Brimstone: a smokey dark purple (cold) to pink (warm) thermal nail lacquer with red/orange/gold/green shimmer, pink/orange shimmer, and packed with flakes that shift from purple/orange/green, red/green, pink/orange and blue/purple.
Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula is jelly like with a touch of squish and easy to build up.
Fairy Wings: a very pale pink crelly nail lacquer with pink/orange shimmer and pink/orange shifting flakes.
Swatches show three coats with topcoat. Formula is crelly like with a strong squish factor.
7th Anniversary Limited Edition ($11.50 available only through October)
Solute: a violet jelly nail lacquer with red/orange/gold/green shimmer.
Swatches show three coats with topcoat. Formula is smooth and jelly like. Depending on your nail length I think this can always be worn at two coats, but I’d suggest a third to darken out the base color and maximize the shimmer payoff.
These are currently released! Don’t forget that Solute is only available through the month of October. Be sure to check out my swatch video to see these in action!
Thanks so much for reading! ❤
