Baroness X: Acetone Antidote in the scent Banana’s Flambe

  • Description: Acetone Antidote is an additive for your acetone to protect your skin from the harshness of acetone. It contains glycerin and jojoba oil to help protect and moisturize your nails, skin, and cuticles during polish removal. Plus, no more ashy, dry skin! Add 1 vial to roughly 6-8 ounces of pure acetone.
  • Scent description: notes of real banana (not the candy), boozy caramel and a melty dollup of whipped cream.
  • Price: $4.25
  • Cap: None

This month’s scent is so good, if you’re a banana fan. It smells like real bananas to me, and honestly reminds me of fried plaintains with a hint of bakery undertones.

Baroness X: La Vie En Rose

  • Description:  a pink/copper/gold shifting iridescent fluid art polish with scattered holo pigment
  • Inspiration: French for “seeing life through rose colored glasses”
  • Price: $12.50
  • Cap: 235US/15UK

This month’s fluid art polish is so shifty! I have a quickie tutorial on how this works on my swatch video.

  • Inspiration: being at home in pajamas
  • Price: $12
  • Cap: TBA

Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula is jelly like, and dense with the glitters. I’d suggest a glitter smoothing topcoat to smooth this one out and leave it glossy.

  • Inspiration: The Space Beans Game
  • Price: $13
  • Cap: 400US/20UK

  • Description: An orange jelly with a shifting red/green aurora, gold flakes, and iridescent color-shifting flakies in orange, gold, and green
  • Inspiration: Candace’s ginger kitty, Mimi
  • Price: $11
  • Cap: None

Swatches show three coats with topcoat. Formula is jelly like with a strong squish factor. I can see this also working well as a topper. It’s a touch sheer, so if you have a prominent free edge you might want to use a color correcting base coat if that bugs you.

Cupcake Polish: Margaritas to Go

  • Description: A lime green nail polish packed with a strong red shimmer
  • Inspiration:
  • Price: $13
  • Cap: None

Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula is crelly like with a bit of squish. The base color is spot on for a limey margarita.

Dam Nail Polish: Content-mint

  • Description: a light turquoise polish with a gold and pink shift
  • Inspiration: a cute toy dumpster with flames coming out of it
  • Price: $12.50
  • Cap: 140US/10UK

  • Inspiration:

  • Description: a multichrome that shifts black to gunmetal to red to orangey gold at extreme angles, and is laced with silver holo flecks
  • Inspiration: an ode to the late Ruth Bader Ginsburg
  • Price: $12
  • Cap: None

Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula is creamy and smooth and easy to build up. This is the holo flecked version to Axiom (in Fair Maiden’s shop now). As I previously stated in my last Fair Maiden post, this pigment is something else. It’s very shifty.

Femme Fatale: Everybody Know’s Sh*ts F**ked

  • Description: A deep blue jelly with red-gold-green shifting shimmer, and superfine holographic glitters in red and magenta.
  • Inspiration: short clips (Everybody Knows Sh*t’s F*cked by Stephen Paul Taylor) that has been floating around the internet for well over a decade – https://youtu.be/ps28uqkfsUw. The stark contrasts of this clip (the short, brutual message paired with the upbeat, perky tune and dance) lends to some accuracy in life. Most of us, I think it’s safe to say, have “f*ck this” moments. My inspiration doesn’t lean to any political nature or activism; while 2020 certainly has been an important yet turbulent year for so many people and nations; my inspiration leans to the daily blend of work/study/family/health and the awesome, sad, difficult, terrible, beautiful and fun moments that come through each day that shape our journey.
  • Price: $14

  • Cap: None

Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula is smooth, creamy, and self levels well.

Glisten & Glow: Glitter Grabber

  • Description: After applying your glitter or flakie polish and having let it dry fully, add a nice layer of Glitter Grabber on top. Allow that to fully dry and then add your glossy or matte top coat.
  • Price: $7.50
  • Cap: None

I’ve reviewed this extensively since it came out, and I stand by what I previously said. It’s awesome and I highly recommend it. I use it over loads of crellies, glitters, and flakes. It’s not necessarily a quick dry, but it dries well in a few minutes. Finish off with a glossy topcoat and you’re smooth. I’m showing it here over a Zoya pixie dust and it’s texture free and sparkly!

Indie by Patty Lopes: Rainbow at the End of the Storm

  • Description: a grey base with a duo chrome shimmer, crystal flakies and matte white glitters.
  • Inspiration: The rainbow at the end of a storm (mimicking the year 2020 & expressing everything will be fine and beautiful again)
  • Price: $12
  • Cap: 220US/20UK

Swatches show three coats with topcoat. Formula is jelly like and a touch sheer, so I’d suggest a color correcting base coat if you mind having your smile line showing.

Lemming Lacquer: Dysphoria

  • Description: a dark blue jelly with a multichrome shift from red to orange to gold to green and scattered holographic flakes
  • Inspiration: Dysphoria is a state of unease or generalized dissatisfaction with life. Dysphoria comes from the Greek word dusphoros meaning “hard to bear.” Both ideas seemed fitting for 2020.

  • Inspiration:  “…Most of us need a drink after these last few years…. I mean months”
  • Price: $10.50
  • Cap: 115US/10UK

This is my first impression of Luna Wax and I have to say I’m impressed. I smelled the package from my mail box! The throw is excellent, and the scents are so yummy! Highly recommend trying if you haven’t.

MLF Lacquer: Year of the Nurse

Pampered Polishes: A Schitt Show

  • Description: A rusty red linear holo with holographic and platinum flakes
  • Inspiration: Schitt’s Creek
  • Price: $13
  • Cap: None

Swatches show three coats with topcoat. Formula is jelly like, and has that juicy appearance when topped with a glossy topcoat.

Pampered Polishes: Schitty Ideas

  • Description: A clear base topper with platinum micro flakes, holographic flakes, and a fun mixture of bright colored glitter
  • Inspiration: Schitt’s Creek
  • Price: $11
  • Cap: None

Swatches show two coats over a neutral creme. I went in for two coats to make sure my swatches would show the tiny micro flakes. They’re reflective and very pretty. I had no problems getting some of the larger glitters out of the bottle either. You may need to do a little bit of careful placement if you wear it at one coat over a creme.

Penelope Luz: Pollyanna

  • Description: gold holo glitters with purple/copper multichrome flakes
  • Inspiration: the character Pollyanna from the book by Eleonor Porter, as she is an icon of positivity, of finding good things in bad situations.
  • Price: $13
  • Cap: 500US/50UK

Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula is dense and applies like a dense glitter. I’d suggest a good glossy topcoat to make the sparkles pop.

Poetry Cowgirl Polish: Frozen Iguanas

  • Description: a lime green/emerald green/teal blue multichrome with a scattering of gold and black micro glitters and holo micro flakies.
  • Inspiration: by 2020 starting with a cold snap in southern Florida that caused the Iguanas to go catatonic and fall out of the trees. They were fine once they warmed up, and the news warned people to watch out for falling iguanas and not to touch them.
  • Price: $12
  • Cap: None

Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula is smooth with a touch of a metallic feel on the brush strokes. The glitters are tiny, but sparkle in bright lights. There’s also a blue shift here at extreme angles.

Pretty Beautiful Unlimited: Breathe

  • Inspiration: a serene picture of deep foliage and the electric pink word Breathe
  • Price: $12
  • Cap: 150US/10UK

Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula is dense and easy to build up.
