PRESS SAMPLE: these were sent to me for review

Hello lovely readers! I’m back with Femme Fatale’s January releases! I’m coming in just a touch early with this post to make sure I’ve got a little time off from blogging during the holidays. This collection is essentially the Valentine’s release, normally Sophie makes a trio but she couldn’t narrow it down this year so we’ve got a full blown set! These are inspired by Suzuki Harunobu’s Lovers Walking in the Snow (Crow & Heron) pieces, and you can see the full mood board in the Facebook group. Let’s take a peek at the collection!

Lovers in the Snow Collection (full set discounted to $95.40)

Crow – A smooth black jelly base with small platinum silver flakes and superfine holographic silver flakes. $13.50 AUD

Swatches show three coats with topcoat. Formula is very smooth and juicy-jelly like. The flakes give a lovely reflective sort of sparkle. I’d suggest three coats on it to maximize opacity and the flakie effect. It does dry down flat so I’d suggest a glossy topcoat.

Quiet Beauty–  A clear based, antique silver microglitter topper, with a soft linear holographic accent. This one should be sponged on for full opacity or can be layered in 3 coats. $13.00 AUD

Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula is jelly like, and I can see how it would make an excellent dense topper. I personally found that one normal coat, and then one medium coat gave me excellent payoff so this will definitely depend on your preference on how you would wear it. I did use a glitter smoothing topcoat (Glisten and Glow) along with a glossy topcoat to finish it off.

Snowscape– A creamy yellow-toned ivory base with assorted white glitter hexes within. $12.50 AUD

Swatches show three coats with topcoat. Formula is very creamy and smooth and easily builds up. I’d suggest a third coat to plump it out, and a glossy topcoat to finish it off.

Heron– A luscious yellow-toned cream with deep grey microflakes that give a hint of purple at the light. $13 AUD

Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula is creamy and smooth and self levels well. This is an interesting base color, and I think it leaned very neutral on me, but still popped very well. Again, I’d suggest a glossy topcoat to finish it off.

Pink Silk– A sheer, silken pink base that gives way to a strong red-orange-yellow-green unicorn pigment. $14 AUD

Swatches show three coats with topcoat. Formula is soft and sheer, and at three coats you can see my smile line, but it’s so glowey. I think this would double as an excellent topper, but I loved how it looked alone. This has lots of shift and at extreme angles a strong green glow.

Tender Affection– Another glistening glitter in a clear base; this time a rose pink holographic microglitter with micro rose-gold flakes and holographic pigment. $13 AUD

Swatches show two coats with a glitter smoothing topcoat and glossy topcoat. I love microglitters and this one easily builds up. You can also sponge it on, but I personally didn’t see a reason to do that as it applies wonderfully as a full coverage microglitter. I would suggest a glitter smoother and glossy topcoat to finish it off as it dries down thirsty and textured.

Aiai Gasa– A burnt orange foil type of finish that shifts to copper and gold at angle to the light. $13 AUD

Swatches show three coats with topcoat. Formula is somewhat crelly like, but leans more as a jelly. It’s easy to build to opacity, and I thought that third coat made it pop very well. I’d suggest finishing off with a glossy topcoat.

Michiyuki– A slightly yellow tinted, soft brown crelly base packed with red-green iridescent flakes. $14 AUD

Swatches show three coats with topcoat. Formula is creamy and smooth with a jelly lean, and builds up quickly to opacity. This is another interesting color that leaned very neutral on me. I’d suggest finishing off with a glossy topcoat.

COTM JANUARY: Flamestreak–  A sheer, amber-like orange with an array of iridescent and foil flakies within.

  • This year’s COTM series will feature various ribbons. January’s COTM will be orange. From Sophie: In Australia, the orange ribbon is used for Harmony Day which coincides with the UN International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination; as well as several cancers such as kidney and Leukemia. We’ve chosen to make the January COTM donation to  the Healing Foundation, which is a national Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organization that partners with communities to address the ongoing trauma caused by actions including the forced removal of children from their families. Between 1905-1970 children of Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent were removed from their families by the Australian federal and state government agencies and church missions. Chronic health issues, disability and alarming levels of economic and social disadvantage have affected the Stolen Generations and their descendants (read about it here). If you’d like to donate directly to the Healing Foundation, you can do so here: https://healingfoundation.org.au/donate/
  • $2 of every bottle will be donated to the Healing Foundation, and $1 of every stockist bottle will be donated as well.

Swatches show three coats with topcoat. Formula is jelly like with a strong squish factor and builds up quickly. This is such a vibrant orange, and the flakes give an almost reflective sparkle against it. I’d suggest a third coat to plump it out, and finish with a glossy topcoat.

FOTM JANUARY: Marsala– A chartreuse crelly, with a hint of olive in the base colour; and speckled black microglitters.

Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula is juicy-jelly like when finished with a glossy topcoat and plumps up easily. This year’s FOTM series will be spices, and this one captures the inspiration very well. FOTM are only available to Fiend Members and do not go to stockists. It’s absolutely free, you just sign up through the Facebook group and you also get extra member points that go for samples and exclusives. So join the Facebook group linked below 😉
