PRESS SAMPLE/SPONSORED GIVEAWAY

Hello lovely people! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and week! I’m squeezing in tonight with January 2021 Polish Pickup! The post has been so delayed, so I apologize for getting this out so last minute. I am having a sponsored giveaway for FIVE $10 gift codes to the PPU shop, all you have to do is leave a comment on my swatch video! After last month’s panic, I think I’m going to use this method going forward to keep all comments in one place and easier for me to count and use a randomizer to generate winners. Now, let’s get on to the swatches!

Alchemy Lacquers: Kyber Crystal

  • Description: a very pale blue crelly nail lacquer with pink/orange shimmer and pink/orange shifting flakes
  • Inspiration: Star Wars- precious Kyber Crystal were force-attuned stones that were used by Jedi and Sith in the construction of their light sabers
  • Price: $11.50
  • Cap: 150US/5UK

Swatches show three coats with topcoat. Formula is rich and crelly like. I’d suggest going in for three coats to prevent any patchyness, and finish off with a glossy topcoat to even everything out.

Apipila: Diamond Blue

  • Description: a blue base with micro green sparkles
  • Inspiration: Blue diamonds
  • Price: $12
  • Cap: 300US/50UK

Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula is dense and jelly like. It dries down flat, so I’d suggest a glossy topcoat.

Apipila: Smudge Free Topcoat

  • Description: a water based topcoat
  • Uses:
    • TC that creates a barrier between stamping and regular TC
    • Can be used with Nail Foil and scrubbing pigments
    • Does not change the color of your nail polish
    • Does not change the color of your nail art
  • Price: $13
  • Cap: 700US/100UK

Swatches show one coat over stamping, then topped with a glossy topcoat. This is a water-based topcoat, so it is excellent over strong linear holos. It acts as a barrier between your nail art and topcoat to prevent any sort of smearing. In my swatch video I go in pretty messy and you can see absolutely no smearing.

Baroness X: Fire Agate

  • Description: black/magenta/red/bronze polish has a sprinkling of green and blue shifting iridescent flakies
  • Inspiration: Fire agate
  • Price: $12.50
  • Cap: 175US/20UK

Swatches show three coats with topcoat. Formula is jelly like. This is similar to the popular black/red multichrome pigment, with a touch different color roll at extreme angles. I’d suggest a glossy topcoat to finish off.

Baroness X: Acetone Antidote in the scent- Pome-garnet

  • Description:
  • Inspiration: The story of Persephone and Hades, a myth that created the belief that garnet is a stone for traveling lovers and a crystal that can heal lover’s broken bonds.
    • Scent notes: main notes of pomegranate, red currants & clementine, with hints of cassis & bright citrus fruits. Acetone Antidote is an additive for your acetone to protect your skin from the harshness of acetone. It contains glycerin and jojoba oil to help protect and moisturize your nails, skin, and cuticles during polish removal. Plus, no more ashy, dry skin!
    • Recommended Use: Shake the vial and add the full bottle to 6-10oz of acetone. You can add the vial to more or less (down to 4oz of acetone per vial). These are just suggestions for optimal scent and protection from acetone, the ratio can vary due to personal preference.
  • Price: $4.25
  • Cap: None

This month’s AA scent is very pleasant. I’d describe it as both clean and a bit fruity. It almost is purfume-y too me. Even as a bakery lover, I really enjoyed this scent.

By Dany Vianna: Preserver of History

  • Description: A blackened yellow jelly base with metallic gold flakes and a mix of brown metallic glitters
  • Inspiration: Amber
  • Price: $12
  • Cap: 250US/20UK

Swatches show three coats with topcoat. Formula is very smooth and jelly like. Depending on whether you wear it at two or three coats, will depend on how the base color appears. It dries down semi gloss, so I think any topcoat will be fine.

Cameo Colours Lacquers: Dia Optasia

  • Description: a deep emerald leaning teal jelly with scattered holo sparkle, a dash of burnished gold holo micro glitter, full of orange/gold crystal chameleon flakes, gold metallic micro flakes, and silver holo micro flakes
  • Inspiration: Dioptase
  • Price: $11.50
  • Cap: 100US/5UK

Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula is smooth and crelly like, with a more jelly lean. It’s very satisfying on the brush strokes and so easy to build up. The base color is very flattering, and it dries down semi-gloss so I think any topcoat will be fine.

Crystal Knockout: Pieces of Prism

  • Description: An ivory base with orange to green iridescent shimmer, gold and silver holographic micro glitter, and color-shifting iridescent flakies in copper, orange, gold, and green
  • Inspiration: Gypsum
  • Price: $11
  • Cap: None

Swatches show three coats with topcoat. Formula is jelly like with a strong squish factor. I think some may be able to get away with two coats. It dries down flat, so I’d suggest a glossy topcoat.

Cupcake Polish: Mystic Topaz

  • Description: a medium grey crème polish filled with purple/teal/gold multichrome and iridescent shimmers
  • Inspiration: lab created mystic topaz
  • Price: $13
  • Cap: None

Swatches show three coats with topcoat. Formula is creamy and smooth with a slight squish factor. I think some may be able to get away with two coats, but at the time I was swatching this I had an awful repair on my nails and went in for a third coat to cover it up. This dries down flat, so I’d suggest a glossy topcoat.

Dam Nail Polish: Dam-ethyst

  • Description: a pink and black purple thermal polish loaded with pink and purple glitters
  • Inspiration: the maker’s amethyst birthstone
  • Price: $12.50
  • Cap: 140US/10UK

Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula is jelly like, and when finished with a glossy topcoat, gives that juicy effect. The temperature reactivity was very sensitive, and the sparkles popped well after topcoating.

Emily de Molly: Balancing Act

  • Description: A dusty mauve base with bright orange glitters
  • Inspiration: Agate
  • Price: $10
  • Cap: 470US/30UK

Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula is ultra creamy and strongly self-leveling. I think most will be fine at two coats, and finish off with a good glossy topcoat to smooth it out. I’d describe the base color as more of a dusky light lavender, with a slight mauve undertone.

Fair Maiden: Celestine

  • Description: a blue-aqua-silver multichrome with holo flakes
  • Inspiration: an image of a teal geode
  • Price: $12
  • Cap: None

Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula is rich and smooth. I’d suggest light brush strokes to prevent any potential streaking. This is quite shifty, and is the holo version to their recently released Euphoria.

Femme Fatale: Be Witch You

  • Description: a sheer, summer-sky blue (warm) to a dusty rose pink (cold) with an iridescent blue overlay and luminous red-shifting-green flakies.
  • Inspiration:
  • Price: $14
  • Cap: 500US/(will also be available through Femme Fatale’s shop during the sale)

Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula is jelly like and dries down flat. The thermal properties are strong and I had no issues getting either color to transition on my nails. Depending on your application type, you may need a third coat.

Flirtin’ Cosmetics: Girly Girls Best Friend

  • Description: a baby pink that shifts to champagne pink with gold flecks.
  • Inspiration: pink diamonds
  • Price: $11.50
  • Cap: 100

Swatches show three coats with topcoat. Formula is jelly like with a squish factor. Some may be able to get away with two coats, but I wanted to see what a third thin coat would look like and I really liked it that way. It is a touch thirsty, so I’d suggest a glitter smoother or two light coats of topcoat.

Glisten & Glow: Pick Your Pouch

  • Description: a white based glitter crellie loaded with various shapes and sizes of the gemstone shades of blue, purple, pink, red, yellow, green, turquoise and gray
  • Inspiration: the pick your pouch gemstone baggies
  • Price: $12.50
  • Cap: None

Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula is crelly like with a bit of squish. You’ll get loads of glitter payoff on your coats, and I really can’t see many needing to go past two coats. It is thirsty for topcoat, so I’d suggest a glossy topcoat and glitter smoother combo.

Glisten & Glow: Glossy Topcoat

  • Uses:
    • Dries down glossy
    • Doesn’t smear nail art/stamping
    • Dries within minutes
    • Prevents chipping
  • Price: $7.50
  • Cap: None

You guys know the drill by now haha. This is one of my favorite topcoats, you’re seeing it in all polishes in this post. It’s quick drying, doesn’t smear nail art, and passes my ‘bump nails on tripod after swatching’ test. It’s very glossy!

Indie by Patty Lopes: Feel Your Spirit Begin Love

  • Description: Light pink crelly with magenta and white matte glitters, crystal flakies
  • Inspiration: Rhodochrosite stone
  • Price: $12
  • Cap: 200US/20UK

Swatches show three coats with topcoat. Formula is jelly like. I’d classify this as one of those milky sort of finishes. I think some may prefer to wear it at two coats for a softer look. If you have a prominent free edge like myself, you might see your smile line on the third coat.

Kathleen and Co.: Bloodstone

  • Description:  a black jelly base with red/gold aurora shimmer with a dusting of holo microglitters
  • Inspiration: the maker’s mom’s March birthstone
  • Price: $12.50
  • Cap: 250US/25UK

Swatches show three coats with topcoat. Formula is jelly like and very vampy. This has a lovely golden shift at angles, and the holo sparkles are tiny and delicate.

Lemming Lacquer: Glowing From Within

  • Inspiration:
  • Price: $13
  • Cap: 200US/20UK

Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula rich and jelly like and builds up easily. I’d suggest a glossy topcoat to finish it off, as it dries very flat.

MLF Lacquer: Oh Peridot

  • Description: a lime green linear holographic polish with a yellow to green color shifting shimmer and orange reflective microflakes
  • Inspiration: Peridot
  • Price: $11
  • Cap: 190US/10UK

Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula is crelly like and very smooth on application. The shimmer gives a soft golden glow in the background. I think this is one of the few instances that I really love my birthstone.

Night Owl Lacquer: Rainbow Fluorite

  • Description: a dark purple filled with green/blue/purple/fuschia flakes inspired by rainbow fluorite
  • Inspiration: Rainbow fluorite
  • Price: $12.80
  • Cap: None

Swatches show three coats with topcoat. Formula is rich and jelly like. I think most will be fine at two coats, and my third thin coat was a touch overkill if I’m honest. There’s loads of flakes, and I’d suggest a glossy topcoat to make them pop.

Pahlish: Keshi

  • Description: a soft lavender violet cream with a strong copper glow
  • Inspiration: Keshi pearls
  • Price: $13
  • Cap: None

Swatches show three coats with topcoat. Formula is creamy and self-leveling. I’d suggest three light coats to plump it out well, and prevent any potential streaking.

Pampered Polishes: The Diadem

  • Description: a cerulean blue creamy base with silver and holographic flakies
  • Inspiration: It’s namesake
  • Price: $13
  • Cap: None

Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula is jelly like, but dense and creamy. This is such a flattering base color, and I’d suggest a glossy topcoat to make it pop.

Penelope Luz: Opal Doublet

  • Description: a burple jelly base with iridescent multicolored flakes
  • Inspiration: the opal doublet stone
  • Price: $13
  • Cap: None

Swatches show three coats with topcoat. Formula is jelly like and easy to build up. I’d classify the base color as a true blurple, depending on your lighting it may lean either way. I’d suggest a third coat to maximize flakie payoff and a glossy topcoat.

Poetry Cowgirl Polish: All That Glitters is Goldstone

  • Description: A rich copper shimmer base packed with copper and silver micro glitters
  • Inspiration: Goldstone
  • Price: $11
  • Cap: None

Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula is jelly like, but dense and easy to build up. I really like this sort of shimmer, it gives a reflective sparkle and I’d love to see more finishes like it. I’d suggest a glossy topcoat to make it sparkle.

Pretty Beautiful Unlimited: Fire Within

  • Description: a red jelly base with scattered holographic pigment, unicorn pigment and crystal chameleon flakies that shift orange/pink/gold.
  • Inspiration: Mexican Cherry Fire Opal
  • Price: $12
  • Cap: 150US/10UK

Swatches show two coats with topcoat. Formula is dense and jelly like, and flirting very hard with being a one coater. This dries down flat, but gives off a lovely metallic sheen. I’d suggest a glossy topcoat to get it to pop.
